Celtic’s Neemias Queta Dad Passes Away

This Tuesday, Neemias Queta became the first Portuguese player to win the NBA championship, however, lost his Dad prior to the game 5.

Djaneuba Queta, 59, passed away three days before the Game 5 victory, as reported by the Portuguese news outlet Sicnoticias. Queta’s father had been battling illness for several months.

“I still don’t have words to describe this moment, to describe this difficult situation that my family and I are going through, but the best way to explain this moment is to know that my father is in a better place, that my father is very happy with what I have done in my career. I think at this point I’m making him very proud because I’ve always fought for my goals. He always taught me to be a humble person and to fight for what I wanted. Today I have achieved one of my goals, and I’m just sorry he’s here to see it.” Queta said.

“I am clearly dedicating this title to my father. He always wanted to see me win, he always wanted to support me so that I could be someone in life. I just want to thank you for everything you did for me.” He added

Queta’s Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in a 5-game series to clinch their first NBA title since 2008.

Condolences to Queta and his family.
