Pacers Secure Siakam with Four-Year, $189.5 Million Extension

Pascal Siakam has agreed to a four-year, $189.5 million max extension with the Indiana Pacers, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Pacers acquired Siakam from the Toronto Raptors in January. The NBA champion put up impressive numbers, averaging 21.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in 41 appearances for Indiana.

He also contributed 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks, shooting 54.9% from the field, 38.6% from three-point range, and 69.9% from the free-throw line.

Siakam, a two-time All-Star, holds career averages of 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks with both the Raptors and the Pacers. He has been named to the All-NBA team twice and won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award for the 2018-19 season.

In the 2024 playoffs, the Pacers triumphed over the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round and the New York Knicks in the second round before falling to the Boston Celtics in the conference finals. With Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton at the helm, Indiana’s future looks promising.

Siakam was instrumental in helping the Raptors secure the 2019 championship against the Golden State Warriors. It will be intriguing to see if he can guide the Pacers to a title as well.

Additionally, Indiana getting Siakam on a four-year deal rather than the full five years for his max contract is a significant value for the team.
