Thanasis to Undergo Surgery After Sustaining Achilles Injury

Thanasis Antetokounmpo, who plays as a forward for the Milwaukee Bucks and is also the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, has torn his Achilles tendon and is set to undergo surgery, as per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

So far, there hasn’t been any update on the cause of his injury yet. Thanasis got some playing time, albeit only three minutes, in Milwaukee’s 120-98 loss in Thursday’s Game 6 against Indiana. It’s always tough to suffer a serious injury, especially when you’re 31 years old, and the timing couldn’t be worse for him.

Being an unrestricted free agent in the upcoming offseason, it’s unlikely that many teams will be eager to sign a role player who might be sidelined for the entire 2024-25 season due to this setback.

Throughout this season, he appeared in 34 games, with modest averages of 0.9 points, 0.5 assists, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.2 steals per game, shooting 53.3 percent. He mostly saw action in low-pressure situations, entering games when the outcome was already decided.
