The Los Angeles Clippers seem set on keeping Tyronn Lue around for the long haul, which makes it seem unlikely he’d switch over to the Lakers, who just let go of their head coach Darvin Ham on Friday afternoon.
“The Clippers are determined to do a long-term deal with Ty Lue. They want him to be their coach for a very long time. That’s a conversation that will happen after the playoffs are over, but they love the job he did this season..” said Wojnarowski.
“This is an organization by all indications, however this series ends up, wants to re-sign Paul George, James Harden. Try to improve this roster around those two and Kawhi Leonard. And Ty Lue will still be the head coach for them.” Woj added.
In 2019, the Lakers made a job offer to Lue for the head coaching role, but they couldn’t come to an agreement. Now, the interest in Lue has sparked again, as he’s among the top candidates along with Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, and JJ Redick for the Lakers’ coaching job.
