Kristaps Porzingis Expected to Miss Round 2 of Playoffs If Celtics Qualify

The Boston Celtics announced on Tuesday that Kristaps Porzingis would not be available for Game 5 of their first-round series against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

A recent report ahead of the Game 5 from Bleacher Report’s Chris B Haynes suggests that Porzingis might also miss the second round of the championship if the Celtics qualify, as they only need one more win against the Miami Heat to seal the series on Wednesday night.

Porzingis sustained the injury during the first half of Monday’s Game 4 victory in Miami. It appeared to happen when he received a pass from Jaylen Brown late in the second quarter.

As he started to drive to his left, he showed signs of discomfort before quickly passing the ball back to Brown and experiencing difficulty, ultimately limping during the play.

With Porzingis sidelined, the Celtics will have to secure their spot in the Eastern Conference semifinals without him on the court tonight. The game is already underway at the TD Garden.
