According to Keith Pompey of PhillyInquirer, there’s uncertainty surrounding Tyrese Maxey of the 76ers for Monday’s Game 2 against New York due to an illness as he’s listed questionable.
Maxey, who was revealed as one of the three finalists for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award for the 2023-24 season on Sunday evening, has been performing exceptionally well recently.
Over his last five games, he’s been on fire, averaging 31.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game while playing for an average of 42.2 minutes.
Despite playing 44 minutes in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Knicks, Maxey’s illness caused him to be added to Monday’s injury report late, and he also missed shootaround.
The 23-year-old is expected to be closely monitored in the hours leading up to the game. However, if Maxey is unable to play, Cameron Payne, Kyle Lowry, and Buddy Hield might see increased playing time.
