Pistons and Shake Milton Reach Buyout Agreement

Detroit Pistons guard Shake Milton has reached an agreement for a contract buyout. This allows him to be eligible for the playoffs before the March 1 deadline, as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, several teams contending for the postseason are interested in signing Shake Milton once he clears waivers.

Milton, selected as the 54th pick in the 2018 draft, spent his first five NBA seasons with the Sixers before becoming an unrestricted free agent last summer.

He then signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Timberwolves, with the second year not guaranteed.

However, the deal didn’t pan out as expected for either side. Milton’s performance fell below his career averages, averaging only 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 38 games with Minnesota, playing just 12.9 minutes per game.

Eventually, the Wolves traded him to Detroit as part of a package deal for Monte Morris. With the recent buyout of Shake Milton, the Pistons have now parted ways with five players (Muscala, Gallinari, Harris, Hayes) in the past month, per Omari Sankofa of the Pistons’ beat.
