Marcus Morris and the San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a buyout, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Morris will be placed on waivers before March 1st’ deadline, allowing him to explore options to join a team competing in the postseason.
Morris was traded by the 76ers during the trade deadline in a deal involving the Sixers, Pacers, and Spurs.
It was expected that he would reach a buyout agreement with San Antonio, as they’re currently at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
Morris won’t be able to return to Philadelphia this season, and he’s restricted from signing with several teams due to salary cap constraints. He has a high salary for this season and will become a free agent in the summer.
About a week ago, former teammate Patrick Beverley hinted that Morris seemed inclined to join the Timberwolves if he became a free agent.
Morris didn’t play any games for San Antonio but had played 37 games for Philadelphia earlier in the season.
He was a regular starter for the Clippers in the past few years and has a solid career performance record, particularly as a three-point shooter.
