The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly interested in acquiring Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma, aiming to strengthen their frontcourt, as per Marc Stein.
The team is seeking a versatile big man, preferably 6’8″ or taller, who can create off the dribble. Kuzma, standing at 6’9″, has been performing well for the Wizards this season, averaging 21.9 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG.
According to reports by Marc Stein, the Wizards are looking for a minimum of two first-round picks for Kuzma, with a preference for higher-value picks than those received by the Raptors for Pascal Siakam.
Washington is also open to trading Tyus Jones and Daniel Gafford, both drawing significant interest before the February 8 trade deadline.
While Siakam is a more accomplished player, Kuzma’s four-year, $90MM contract offers salary flexibility for teams like the Mavs and Kings, who already have high-paid players.
The Mavs, however, can currently only trade one first-round pick (2027) due to the Stepien rule, and the Wizards are adamant about accumulating first-rounders after previous trades.
Despite interest in players like Gafford and Deni Avdija, the Wizards remain consistent in their desire for first-round picks. Avdija, a forward who fits the Mavericks’ criteria, faces challenges in trading due to the poison pill provision.
