Warriors’ Closes In on Three-Year Agreement with Brazilian Forward Gui Santos

Golden State Warriors is in the process of finalizing a three-year contract to acquire Brazilian forward Gui Santos.

Santos, who was the 55th overall selection in the 2022 Draft, has been actively participating with the Santa Cruz team in the G League. The deal is anticipated to be concluded within the next few days, as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

During the previous season, while playing for Santa Cruz, Santos participated in 26 games, with an average performance of 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds, showcasing a 50 percent field goal accuracy.

The Warriors found themselves with just 13 players on regular contracts after releasing a number of training camp invitees prior to the commencement of the 2023/2024 season.

Instead of seeking an external free agent, they’ve opted to bring Santos on board to occupy their 14th spot, a requirement they must fulfill within the next 14 days.

Even after adding Santos, the Golden State team will retain a vacant slot on their standard roster, though it appears improbable that they will recruit a player to occupy that 15th position until later in the season, as this decision allows them to maintain both their roster and financial flexibility.
