The Portland Trail Blazers have inked a two-way contract with center Duop Reath, as per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Two days ago, Reath, along with Kevin Knox, was waived to create space for Ish Wainright.
Sources close to Sean Highkin suggest that Ibou Badji will be released to accommodate Duop Reath as the Blazers finalize their roster for the upcoming season.
Reath, 27, who went undrafted after his college career at LSU in 2018, has been playing abroad for the past five years, gaining experience with various teams in Serbia, Australia, China, and Lebanon.
Back in July, he showcased his skills by posting an average of 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds in five games for the Portland Summer League team.
Following this, he had the honor of representing Australia as the starting center for the national team, known as the Boomers, in the 2023 World Cup.
Away from Reath— Badji, 21, will be waived as aforementioned. He spent a significant portion of the previous season under a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, although he did not make an appearance in any NBA regular season games.
Badji is a 7’1″ center from Senegal, known for his impressive 7’9″ wingspan.
He played in Spain from 2019 to 2022 and started the 2022/23 season with the Wisconsin Herd, which is the G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, after going undrafted the previous year.
In November of last year, he joined the Blazers and later secured a second two-way contract with the team in July.
