Orlando Magic’s Trevelin Queen has seen a notable advancement in his career. His Exhibit 10 contract has been converted, aligning him with Kevon Harris and Admiral Schofield, all now holding two-way contracts, as per Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel.
During Orlando’s preseason finale against Brazilian team Flamengo, Queen showcased his skills by amassing an impressive 24 points, shooting at a remarkable 75% accuracy, all within a mere 24 minutes of play. Additionally, he demonstrated his defensive prowess with four steals in the game.
Queen’s journey in professional basketball has been unconventional. Having gone undrafted in 2020 after his college stint at New Mexico State, he predominantly plied his trade in the NBA G League for the majority of his three pro seasons.
His remarkable performance in the 2021/22 season earned him the prestigious NBAGL MVP award.
The 26 year old ventured into the NBA scene last summer by signing with the 76ers but was subsequently waived during the preseason.
Fortunately, he found a new home with the Pacers on a two-way deal just days later. Although he spent most of the 2022/23 season with Indiana, his tenure came to an end in March when he was waived.
Throughout his career, Queen has made appearances in a total of 17 NBA games while on two-way contracts with the Rockets and Pacers over the past two seasons.
His statistical records show modest averages of 3.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per contest.
Notably, Queen continued to shine at the G League level in the 2022/23 season. His performance included impressive averages of 23.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game in 11 Showcase Cup contests, all while maintaining a significant playing time of 35.7 minutes per game for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
In 24 NBAGL regular season games, he displayed noteworthy stats, recording 22.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.1 steals. His exceptional skills earned him a spot in the Next Up Game during the All-Star weekend.
For the Orlando Magic, this promotion for Queen came at an opportune moment, as they had an available two-way contract spot, sparing them from making any roster adjustments. As it stands, the Magic’s roster includes 21 players, adhering to the preseason limit.
