The Los Angeles Clippers have inked a deal with Xavier Moon, a versatile free-agent wing, signing him to an Exhibit 10 contract, a transaction reported by Michael Scotto.
Moon’s journey to the NBA has been marked by determination and resilience. Having gone undrafted from Morehead State, he spent several years honing his skills in various non-NBA leagues from 2017 to 2021.
The past two years have seen him don the Clippers’ colors, with his journey culminating in a two-way contract with the club during the 2022/23 season.
Over this span, Moon has showcased his abilities in 14 games for Los Angeles, contributing an average of 4.6 points and 2.1 assists in just 11.2 minutes per game.
However, it was his time with the Ontario Clippers, the G League affiliate of the L.A. Clippers, during the last season that truly brought him into the spotlight.
Moon delivered an outstanding performance, averaging an impressive 20.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game.
His shooting proficiency was equally commendable, boasting a shooting line of .523/.389/.824 across 48 regular season and Showcase Cup games, with an average playing time of 31.0 minutes per game.
Such an exceptional display earned him a well-deserved spot on the All-NBAGL Third Team.
Xavier Moon’s accolades didn’t stop there. In July, he further solidified his standing by being named to the All-Summer League Second Team.
His impressive showing in Las Vegas while representing the Clippers caught the attention of many.
The Clippers currently have one vacant two-way slot, and according to reports from agent Andre Buck, Moon is primed to seize the opportunity to compete for that coveted spot.
Notably, an Exhibit 10 contract holds the potential to be converted into a two-way deal before the commencement of the regular season.
However, if Moon is unable to secure the two-way role and is subsequently waived, there’s a silver lining.
He would remain eligible for a $75,000 bonus by fulfilling a requirement of spending a minimum of 60 days with the Ontario Clippers.
As the 2023/24 NBA season approaches, all eyes are on Xavier Moon as he continues his remarkable journey, striving for a key role within the Clippers organization.
