Kevin Knox Returns to Portland Trail Blazers on One-Year Deal

Kevin Knox has agreed to a new contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Knox’s journey includes playing for both the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers last season after being traded midway through the season.

In 63 regular season games, he averaged 6.6 points and 2.8 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 45.8% from the field and 34.9% from three-point range.

Knox entered free agency this summer, and according to Charania, he will continue his career with Portland.

Following a single season of college basketball with the Wildcats, Knox was originally selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.

Apart from his stints with the Knicks, Pistons, and Trail Blazers, he has also had a period with the Atlanta Hawks.

In his five-season NBA career, the 24-year-old holds career averages of 7.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 38.5% from the field and 34.2% from beyond the arc across 275 regular season games. He has also made three appearances in NBA playoff games.

Regarding the Portland Trail Blazers, they’re coming off a challenging year where they finished as the 13th seed in the Western Conference, managing a 33-49 record.

For the second year running, they have failed to reach the playoffs. Consequently, they are determined to clinch a playoff berth this time with an enhanced roster.
