LeBron James and his son Bronny potentially joining the Boston Celtics ? You call it.
While Celtics fans are currently focused on the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers, NBA analysts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo predict that the Celtics could select Bronny James with the No. 54 pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
The Celtics acquired this second-round pick from the Sacramento Kings in a trade last summer involving the Mavericks. Bronny James isn’t projected as a draft pick in B/R’s latest mock draft, but speculation suggests that his potential landing spot could influence LeBron James’ free agency decision to a significant extent.
Bronny’s draft stock received a boost after his impressive performance at the 2024 NBA Scouting Combine. Despite a limited playing time due to health issues in his freshman college season at USC, where he returned to the court after undergoing heart surgery, Bronny showed promise.
He has yet to decide whether to remain in the NBA Draft or return for a sophomore season, with the deadline set for May 29.
Joining the Celtics could provide Bronny with the opportunity to learn from experienced veterans he admires, such as Derrick White and Jrue Holiday.
He aims to develop his defensive game further to emulate the defensive ability of players like White and Holiday, a goal that aligns with the Celtics’ strong guard depth and defensive focus.
The Celtics are up 1-0 in the ECF and gearing up for another showdown against the Pacers on Thursday at the MSG. Following that, they’ll hit the road for games 3 and 4 in Indiana, where Porzingis is expected to join the lineup for game 4.
