76ers Tyrese Maxey Named 2023-24 Kia NBA Most Improved Player

Philadelphia 76ers guard, Tyrese Maxey, has been named the 2023-24 Kia NBA Most Improved Player, surpassing competitors such as Houston Rockets’ Alperen Sengun and Chicago Bulls’ Coby White.

This accolade marks Maxey as the second player from the 76ers to clinch the Kia NBA Most Improved Player Award, following Dana Barros’ win in 1994-95.

Maxey’s impressive performance saw him rank 11th in the NBA for points per game, boasting an increase of 5.6 points per game compared to the previous season.

Additionally, he secured the 20th spot for assists per game, marking a rise of 2.7 assists per game from last season. As a first-time All-Star, he also achieved a career-high of 212 three-pointers, a significant jump from the 160 he made last season.

Maxey’s standout moments included three games where he scored 50 or more points, tying for the most in the NBA. These remarkable achievements marked the first instances of 50-point games in his four-year career.

“This award is extremely well deserved with all the work he puts in,” teammate Tobias Harris said. “… Working hard and being a great student of the game like he is, those opportunities come to great people like himself.”
