76ers’ Rob Covington to be Reevaluated in 3-4 Weeks, De’Anthony Melton Nears Return

Sixers forward Robert Covington greets teammates forward Tobias Harris and guard Tyrese Maxey before Covington entered the game late in the fourth quarter against theToronto Raptors on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia 76ers veteran reserve, Robert Covington, hasn’t been on the court for an extended period due to a knee-related setback.

The last time Covington played was in the Sixers’ December 30 defeat against the Chicago Bulls.

In the recent rematch against the Bulls to kick off the 2024 phase of the season, Covington was sidelined, marking his first absence since December 20 when the 76ers hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Covington has been undergoing treatment for left knee inflammation and bone bruising over the past three weeks. His status is currently listed as out, and a re-evaluation is scheduled in approximately three-to-four weeks as per Austin Krell of ESPN.

Prior to his recent injury, Covington was doing pretty well for the Sixers, averaging 16 minutes on the court. During this time, he contributed an average of five points, along with four rebounds, one steal, and one block per game.

Away From Covington —— De’Anthony Melton, dealing with stress in his lower back, has finished a period of reduced activity and is now starting to prepare for a comeback.

He’ll join the team for their upcoming road trip but won’t be playing, and his condition will be reevaluated in about a week.
