The Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans have both been fined for breaking rules about reporting player injuries, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The 76ers were fined $75,000 for not putting their star center, Joel Embiid, on the injury report correctly before a game against the Denver Nuggets .
The Pelicans were fined $25,000 for a similar mistake with Trey Murphy before a game against Milwaukee. The NBA said the 76ers got a bigger fine because they’ve been fined before for this.
However, the NBA confirmed that Embiid wasn’t breaking any rules about playing because he was genuinely injured.
Embiid has missed two out of the last three games because of knee pain and won’t play in Thursday’s game against the Utah Jazz. Some of the fine money will go to the NBA, and the rest will go to the players’ association.
